Grade 2 Math Games: Free Math Practice for 2nd Graders

Sprocket City turns second grade math practice into a build: your child reads a question, taps the answer, and a right answer snaps a part onto a helper bot. When the Big Build powers on, a district of Sprocket City lights up. Every task comes straight from the California Common Core math standards for second grade. Free in any browser, with no account, no sign-up, and no ads.

How the practice works

For parents and teachers

Sprocket City is untimed by default. A clock appears only if you switch on Challenge mode, and it never blocks progress, because timed drill is associated with math anxiety rather than fluency. Every question can be read aloud in English or Spanish, there is a calm mode with fewer effects, and an errorless mode for the youngest learners. The progress report shows mastery by standard, time on task, and which skills are due for another pass, and it prints in English or Spanish.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Every grade, job, and feature is included with no account and no personal information required. There are no ads and no in-app purchases anywhere in the game. Districts can license a hosted version with rostering; the classroom experience is the same.

Does it work on a Chromebook?

Yes. It runs in Chrome with no installation, or installs as an app from the browser menu. It works offline after the first load.

Is it in Spanish?

Yes. One tap switches every screen, question, and coaching message to Spanish, and questions can be read aloud in either language.

What about students with IEPs?

Calm mode, errorless mode, larger targets, keyboard and switch play, text scaling, spaced text, and read-aloud are all built in. The teacher dashboard exports per-standard progress monitoring data as a CSV.

Which standards are covered?

The table on this page lists every standard practiced in this grade. Every question in the game shows its standard code.
