Privacy Policy

Sprocket City · Effective September 3, 2026

The short version: Sprocket City collects no personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no ads, no third-party analytics, and no social features. Everything the game saves stays on the device it is played on unless a person chooses to export it.

What the game stores on the device

DataWhereContains personal information?
Game progress: jobs completed, stars, sprockets, helper bot look, settings, daily goal and streak counters, and per-standard mastery counts (how many questions were answered and how many were right for each math standard)Browser storage on the student's deviceNo. No name, birthdate, email, location, or identifier of any kind.
Class code (optional)SameNo. A class code is a random string the teacher chooses to share. It carries class settings such as calm mode or Spanish.
Teacher roster (optional, teacher's device only)Browser storage on the teacher's deviceOnly what the teacher types as a label. The app asks for initials or a first name only. The mastery data pasted into the roster contains no personal information (see below).

Progress codes

A student can copy a "progress code" from the report screen and give it to a teacher. The code is a compressed copy of the mastery counts, minutes played, grade, and class code. It contains no name and no identifier. It is transferred by the people involved (for example by pasting into the teacher's device); the game never sends it anywhere.

What we do not do

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Sprocket City is designed for students in preschool through high school. Because the game collects no personal information from any user, it does not collect personal information from children under 13 as defined in the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (16 CFR Part 312), and no parental consent mechanism is required. Parents: your child's gameplay stays on the device they play on.

Schools (FERPA, California SOPIPA and Education Code 49073.1)

When a school uses Sprocket City, the school remains the owner of any student records. The game does not transmit student data to us. We do not use any information for targeted advertising, do not build profiles, and do not sell or disclose student information. A signed California Student Data Privacy Agreement is available for districts on request.

Read-aloud

The optional read-aloud feature uses the speech synthesis built into the device's browser. No audio or text is sent to us.

Network use

The game is delivered over the web (or installed as an app) and fetches only its own files from our hosting provider when online. These requests serve content only; we do not use them to identify or profile players. Once installed, the game works fully offline.

Deleting data

Use "Reset all progress" in Settings, remove a student from the roster on the teacher screen, clear the browser's site data, or uninstall the app. Any of these removes the data completely because there is no copy anywhere else.

Changes to this policy

If the game ever adds features that change what data is handled (for example an optional district sync), this policy will be updated first, the effective date above will change, and any new collection will require a signed district agreement and appropriate parental notice for users under 13.
